HACE 35 AÑOS (1981-VI)

Hemos llegado al segundo miércoles del mes de Junio, y hoy me toca presentarte el segmento musical de 1981, hace 35 años. Y en esta ocasión, he querido elegir para tí dos muy buenas canciones interpretadas por dos recordados cantantes británicos.    

1.-  THIS OLE HOUSE (Shakin’ Stevens).- Recuerdo que en una tarde de 1981, estaba escuchando Radio Doble Nueve y en eso, soltaron un tema con un estilo bastante rockabilly y lleno de un ritmo bien contagiante. Al terminar la canción, se anunció que quien cantaba era un tal Shakin’ Stevens y la canción se titulaba “This Ole House”. Poco después supe que este cantante era británico y que la rompía tanto en UK como en Europa y me acuerdo que salía con bastante frecuencia en diversas ediciones de la revista alemana “Bravo”. El tema fue escrito por Stuart Hamblen y grabado originalmente en 1954 por Rosemary Clooney –que fue N° 1 en UK y USA. En 1980 fue grabada por Shakin’ Stevens y fue lanzada como single a inicios de 1981, llegando al N° 1 en UK el 28 de Marzo de 1981 por 3 semanas. En el 2005 fue relanzado luego de aparición en el programa de TV “Hit Me Baby One More Time”, llegando al N° 20 en UK. 35 años después, siempre es grato recordar ésta muy buena canción. Disfrútala.

2.-  I CAN’T STAND IT (Eric Clapton).-  Debo admitir que supe de la trayectoria musical de Eric Clapton, recién en la década del 90. Esto significa que en la década del 80, desconocía su glorioso pasado en la década del 60 y sus hits en los 70’s. Al igual que en el tema anterior, escuché por primera vez el tema “I Can’t Stand It” en Radio Doble Nueve, pero el DJ no dijo quien la cantaba. La escuché varias veces y me gustó mucho por su buen estilo rockero. Recién, años después supe que era el gran Eric Clapton quien la cantaba. La canción fue escrita por Eric Clapton y producida por Tom Dowd. Fue lanzada como primer single del álbum “ANOTHER TICKET” el 11 de Febrero de 1981, llegando al N° 10 en USA, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 en el USA Album Rock Tracks por 2 semanas, N° 15 en Canadá y N° 62 en Francia. Han pasado ya 35 años, pero vale la pena escuchar este buen tema del gran Clapton. Disfrútala.
